Too many env.nodes
I seem to have lag related to having too many objects. Is their anything faster then the advanced env.node ?
In game, when I look at the many walls I create the game slows down to 10 fps but when I turn around it speeds up. Any ideas ?
Also, how can I apply basic shaders with the underlying monkey engine? Say something simple like a metalic glow... or maybe just a 1x1 plane mirror without using the env.water and slowing it down...
Thank you in advance.
Too many objects on screen at one time will definitely slow things down. Some tricks that people in the industry use include only rendering objects that are close to you, the use of fog, etc.
It is a good idea to access the underlying shaders mechanism. At this point, it's not an easy thing to do. I'll give it some thoughts and get back to you on that.
